Tiler Granted GHC10,000.00 Bail For Receiving Stolen Iron Rods

A 19-year-old Tiler has been granted bail in the sum of GHC 10,000.00 with two sureties by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for dishonestly receiving 83 pieces of iron rods valued GHC3,500.00.

The accused, John Kwoffie, pleaded not guilty and would re-appear before the court on 10thDecember, 2015.

Presenting the fact, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Justice Mr. Kwasi Anto Ofori Atta, High Court Judge sitting addition as a Circuit Court Judge, that the complainant James Ayitey is a small scale miner at Tarkwa.

The accused person John kwoffie is also a resident of New Atuabo, a suburb of Tarkwa.

He narrated that on 16th November 2015, at about 6:30am; the complainant went to his mining site at Borborbo also in Tarkwa and saw 83 pieces of iron rods value GHz 3,500.00 packed behind his machine shop.

At about 9: 00am, accused came in and claimed ownership of the said items.

Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah said, when the accused person John kwoffie was interrogated, he did not give the source of the items and was arrested and handed over to Police for investigations.

Accused however stated in his investigations caution statement that he bought the iron rods from a driver whose name he does not know but can identified when seen at a cost of GHz 90.00 at Samahu near Tarkwa.
