Spiraling of the Ghanaian legal plastic [CEDI], the erratic electricity power supply [dum sor, dum sor], the economic down turn are not the faults of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to answer.

Neither are the wide spread enterprise failures, fiscal indiscipline, entrenched corruption in state departments, brutalities of the police and high incidence of armed robbery are the faults of Nana Akufo Addo to answer.

But the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party [NPP] has shown his readiness in solving all these problems facing the country under President John Dramani Mahama’s NDC government when he Akufo Addo is elected the next president.

Nana Akufo Addo shown his readiness when he mounted the platform to address Ghanaians resident in Canada recently in a town hall meeting at Ghanaian Presbyterian Church auditorium in Toronto.

The town hall meeting which was organized by the Canada branch of the NPP in collaboration with Toronto Chapter created the platform for the party leader to present his vision and mission for his drive to power in 2016 general elections as well as interact with Ghanaians in the country about situation back home in Ghana.

At the town hall meeting, one taught that since the aforementioned problems were not caused by the opposition NPP or its leader Nana Akufo Addo, he might dodge the critical questions that were posed to him.

But he surprised all by boldly and excellently taking those critical questions one by one, explaining the cause and how his government will solve such problems to the satisfaction of many participants at the meeting who gave him a standing ovation.

On the down turn of the economy, Nana Akufo Addo said, the one thousand percent national debt is extremely disturbing as it will destroy the younger generation and put the whole country in darkness.

He said it was wrong for president Mahama’s government to spend billions of dollars on importation of goods and services that the country can create and export for foreign exchange to support the economy.

As to what he will do to improve the economy, Akufo Addo stated that his government will diversify agriculture by putting power behind the country’s producers of all the main cash crops to produce raw materials on a larger scale to feed the industries and also for major export for foreign exchange.

Nana Akufo Addo stated that Ghana is well placed to play a catalytic role in bringing about a better Francophone and Anglophone market.

“But what is sad is that ECOWAS states do not trade among themselves thereby worsening the economic situations among member states” he observed.

He disclosed that under his government he will champion the cause of trade among ECOWAS states which Ghana is a member to be in the competitive market to create internally generated funds to grow the economy” he disclosed.

Nana Akufo Addo challenged that fiscal indiscipline is the main cause of the erratic power supply that is getting worse and killing the economy.

According to him, the Volta River Authority [VRA] the Electricity Company of Ghana [ECG] and other power generating agencies are all broke as they do not have the money to produce energy for the country.

But was quick to assure all that his government will first of all ensure that the agencies abide by fiscal discipline policy, find the money to buy the crude oil to generate the needed energy to power the country.

Participants who were very much worried about the rate of fraud and corruption in the system and ask what he would be doing about it, had a simple answer from Nana Akufo Addo which was” there would be no chop, chop in my government”.

Nana Akufo Addo further disclose his intention to create a state ombudsman office agreed by parliament that will handle all state prosecutions so that no one could say he won power to “witch hunt his opponents”.

“No I do not subscribe to witch hunting my opponents because you do not win power to arrest and throw your opponents into jail without fair trial.

“You win power to bring people together to develop the country and that is what Nana Akufo Addo is saying vote for me to unite the people to transform Ghana” he explained his vision.

Mr. Alex Banning, NPP Toronto Chapter vice chairman earlier welcoming participants described Nana Akufo Addo as a leader with exceptional qualities Ghanaians are privileged of.

He noted that when the Supreme Court gave its “rush decision” on the election petition, some people did not agree but Nana Akufo Addo said “I accept it” which calmed down tempers.

Mr. Banning urged all party members and ordinary Ghanaians to support Nana Akufo Addo’s vision of bringing about transformation by voting massively for him in the next election.
