Coalition for Change supports vulnerable in two regions

Wa, Oct 28, GNA - The Coalition for Change (C4C), a nongovernmental organisation has provided assorted household items to support vulnerable people in the Upper West and Upper East Regions.

The C4C in partnership with the Christian African Relief Trust (CART), a United Kingdom based charity organisation, distributed used clothing and household items to some vulnerable people, including stationeries, books, uniform, sports kits, toys and food trays.

Again, it made medical supplies to educational and health institutions in communities across the two beneficiary regions.

Miss. Ruby Yap, Executive Director of C4C in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said previously, C4C carried out its activities only in the Wa Municipal but decided to extend its operations to remote and hard to reach communities in Upper West and Upper East Regions.

She said three districts: Wa West in the Upper West, Builsa South and North in the Upper East Region totaling 895 beneficiaries in the communities were supported.

The Sandema Hospital, Kanjarga Health and ICT Centres and 1,500 students of the Fumbisi Senior High School as well as 50 members of the Calvary Charismatic Centre also benefited.

Miss Yap said a total of 13 institutions in all the beneficiary districts were served and some school children who were identified as needy and walking long distances to school were provided with bicycles.

She said CART had for the past years also supported C4C women empowerment project which benefited 105 women farmers from Sissala East, Lambussie-Karni and Wa West Districts in 2014.

The project provides soya and maize production and soap making training and materials and supplies given to the women for their start-up production.

'We thank CART for continuing to believe in us and our objectives; together with them and their supporters in the UK, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve especially the school children in the far flung communities of the Upper East and Upper West Regions, Ms. Yap, said.

'As long as there are communities and institutions which are less endowed, C4C will be supporting them with the help of our donor CART who believes in caring for the less privileged', the C4C Director added.

The C4C aims to improve the livelihoods of families using ecologically sustainable local farm base strategies, adaptable income generating activities and available forms of educations as means of closing poverty gap in the north.
