Accra, Oct. 14, GNA - The leadership of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) has visited a host of communities in the Ashanti Region to deliver the party's 2016 campaign messages, which highlighted job creation as a top priority.

The party's National Chairman, Mr Brew Hammond, who led the delegation, for the Party's "Awake and Vote for Change" tour, addressed a mini rally in Obuasi and also called on the Adansihene, AdansiheneOpagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie II . They also visited Fomena.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency on about the event, Mr Frank Aboagye Danyansah, the PPP's parliamentary aspirant for Obuasi East, said the messages highlighted the PPP's solutions for bettering the national economy, meeting the health and educational needs and tackling the endemic corruption in the society.

They also put forward some radical reforms towards promoting good governance and ensuring the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE).

Mr Danyansah said the party called for an assessment of the current voters' register to ensure its sanctity and for and the strengthening of the National Identification Authority to work efficiently to produce a single identification profile for easy reference.

He noted that joblessness among the youth was on the rise in Obuasi and its neighbourhood following the withdrawal of Anglogold Ashanti from the area's mining concession and the subsequent dismissal of an army of workers.

On his personal campaign, Mr Danyansah said: 'I told them to vote for me in 2016 to help bridge the infrastructure gap in the area. This is because the existing infrastructure are concentrated in Obuasi West; the Municipal Assembly, the Government Hospital, and even the Anglogold settlements, can all be found on the West side. There is no development in the East.

'As an estate developer, I will focus more on infrastructural developments for the people and efforts to create more jobs. I'll bring on board leadership qualities that would touch base with the people by establishing Member of Parliament's office in Obuasi East to address the complaints of the constituents.'

Mr Danyansah said he would also organise community-based meetings to address the peculiar needs of the community and further provide the needed facilities that would improve the living conditions of the people.
