Stop Relying On Government For Development -- Krobo Citizens

Monday October 12, 2015: The Kloma Hengme Association; a Krobo advocacy and heritage organization, on Monday has made a call on all Krobo citizens to take up the development of the Krobo area into their own hands and stop relying on government to provide all their needs.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Association; Isaac Tamatey Otu, to all citizens of the Krobo area as the association celebrates its one year of successful inauguration on Monday.

The statement said the time has come for all Krobo citizens- both home and abroad- to take the destiny and future of the Krobo area into their hands and team up with others to bring change and development to the Krobo area.

“If the Krobo area will develop, it will depend on the individual efforts of all Krobos. It is time to take up the destiny and future of Kloma into our hands and develop our own land. It is us Krobos citizens that will develop our land, and not anyone from anywhere. We must stop our over reliance on government. We must believe in ourselves as Krobo people to develop our land. We can do it, oh yes we can”.

The statement further stated that “Trials and tribulations there have been, and there will always be. However we have learnt our right lessons as Krobo citizens and with unity, persistence and perseverance, we will surely raise the name and image of Kloma unto a higher pedestal.”

As part of the programs to celebrate the one year anniversary of successful inauguration, the association is embarking on a trip to Blukum; a rural area in the Yilo-Krobo Municipality to undertake health screening exercises, train the women of Blukum in Soap making, organize an education seminar, donate agricultural inputs to boost agriculture and distribute used clothes to the citizens.
