The Ghana Youth Series #4: Touch Not My Anointed, Do My Prophets No Gidigidi

The Ghana Youth Series 4: Touch Not My Anointed, Do My Prophets No Gidigidi
13.10.2015 LISTEN

When David asked Asaph and his team to sing in honour of the Arch of the Covenant finally finding a resting place, a verse in that song (verse 22 of 1st Chronicles) “Touch not my anointed and do ye my prophets no harm” has forever struck a chord with many Men of God. In fact the song was one that was sung to testify ALL that the Lord God did from when the Arch first came into being until when it found its first resting place with David.

Of course many in Christendom will argue that even though it is a statement of history, God is the same yesterday, today and forever and so if He gave the bearers of the Arch that protection, He has it in offer for today’s bearers of the arch – Genuinely called and truthfully ordained Men and Women of God. But since you and I weren’t there when God called them and as such cannot verify the validity of their calling and anointing, I feel this post is useful.

But over time, and in modern Christendom, this text has been deployed as a badge of “Diplomatic Immunity” for Men and women of God, irrespective of their wrong conducts. It has been successfully used to pummel Christians from questioning the wrongs that Christian leaders do for fear of being cursed, vilified, taunted and even in some cases killed.

So what do you do as a Christian? Well, first of all, I think it is worth bearing in mind that “We are responsible for our own Christian lives” – we must “work out our own salvation” – the Pastor is a conduit through whom God speaks to us – he or she will be dealt with God on a one to one basis and that is not for us to worry ourselves about.

But here is the wisdom I advise – Do not judge any man of God on your personal whims but do this – align, whatever they do, say or preach with the word of God, on your own and for yourself. If these don’t align with the word of God, wisdom does NOT demand that you go and confront them. Rather, it is up to you to assess the consistency with which their words and actions deviate from the Bible (which you should also be reading by the way). In doing so, there is a point where you need to arrive at where you have to make a decision between two things:

(1) The blessings of spiritual nourishment, prophetic covering and direction you are deriving from serving under a man/woman of God or remaining in a ministry and

(2) The regularity with which his/her actions and words (as a person) deviate from the image of Jesus Christ

One of these will outweigh the other and it is up to you to go into prayer and make a decision whether the blessings far outweigh the deviations you see or vice versa. (don’t just go into prayer and stay there forever Oooo)

It is not wisdom to confront men of God with decisions that you are personally responsible for ( I am not saying they shouldn’t be confronted at all) – it is your life, so take control of it and make the judgments and decisions you can live with.

In conclusion, I say this – rightfully divide the word and not your emotions.; rightfully divide the facts of truth, not your ego or pre-arranged decisions.
