All members of my administration have declared their Assets - Mahama

The issue of assets declaration has been a topic for discussion – many have challenged President John Dramani Mahama and his appointees to openly declare their assets.

This has compelled the president to reveal that all his appointees have already declared their assets to the Auditor General.

He made this known during an interview with Twin City Radio in the Western Region during his tour to canvas for votes in their party’s upcoming primaries slated for November 7.

According to him, even though the declaration was not made public – it was an obligation to all his appointees to declare their assets – “When they were appointed and when they will leave office.”

President John Dramani Mahama also opined that government is working to amend the constitution to make the process of assets declaration by public officers more transparent.

However, the president noted that - any Ghanaian can demand to know the assets declared by public officials with a court order or a petition to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) under the current law.

“We must do this in a uniform way. But anyone can challenge government appointees to declare their assets,” he noted.
