NDC Cries Over Infiltration

THE EASTERN Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bismark Tawiah Boateng, has alleged that members of the opposition New Patriotic Party have infiltrated the NDC party’s camp, claiming that names of NPP supporters have found their way into the voters’ register to be used in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential primaries of the party.

Tawiah Boateng said this when addressing branch and constituency executives at an outreach programme to endorse the candidature of President Mahama in the Lower Manya-Krobo constituency. According to him, his outfit gathered that sympathisers of the NPP registered in the recent NDC biometric registration exercise with the agenda to vote against President John Mahama in the upcoming primaries.

Mr Tawiah Boateng stated that the NDC would not hesitate to arrest persons who would vote against President John Mahama in the party’s presidential primaries.

 'Anybody who goes against the party’s directive by opposing the candidature of the president will be dealt with,' he threatened.

He hinted that he had therefore charged party stalwarts in all the 33 constituencies to be vigilant on the election day and cause the arrest of any person they suspect to be an NPP member.

100% For Mahama
The Regional Executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress have started an outreach programme dubbed, 'Eastern Region 100% Endorsement for John Mahama', in the 33 constituencies in the region by meeting the party supporters to canvass for the president in the upcoming primaries slated for November 7, 2015.

The Regional Chairman told DAILY GUIDE that the outreach programme was aimed at sensitising party supporters on how to vote in the upcoming primaries to give President John Mahama's candidature a 100% endorsement.

Last Thursday the Regional Executives of the NDC started the outreach programme in the Lower Manya - Krobo and Asuogyaman constituencies.

The regional party hierarchy will today (Monday) visit both the Fanteakwa North and Suhum constituencies to meet constituency executives, supporters and the various aspiring parliamentary candidates to school them on the NDC party's regulations governing the upcoming parliamentary and presidential primaries.

NPP Reacts
Reacting to Tawiah Boateng's allegation, the Eastern Regional First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Umar Bodinga, speaking on Okay Fm, an Accra-based radio station, denied claims that NPP members had infiltrated the governing party in a bid to cause disaffection.

'I cannot understand how the NPP will seek to infiltrate the NDC voters' register to take part in an election the NPP has no interest in,' Alhaji Bodinga underscored, asking, “Why will the NPP go and register in the NDC to vote against John Mahama?”

He said if there was any infiltration at all, it would be the NDC’s own doing.

The NPP First Vice chairman further cited instances when the NDC was alleged to be collecting ID cards of some Ghanaians across the country for the purpose of creating a new data base.
