Opanyin Kofi Asare (11th November, 1895 - 30th September, 2015) was an astute cocoa farmer, an advisor and the oldest man in Akyem Awisa and its environs until his demise in 2015.

Opanyin was born on 11th November, 1895 at Akyem Awisa in the Eastern Region of Ghana to Opanyin Bedeeto and Madam Ama Apea all of blessed memory. He hails from Akyem Awisa and was a member of the Royal Agona clan of Akyem Awisa.

As the oldest man who knows the rank and file of Akyem Awisa, he was always surrounded by young men and women as he shares the story of the town and how some creatures were named in the town.

'Abam Kofi' as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, was the one who brought The Apostolic Church to Akyem Awisa.

Opanyin received a number of awards from all angles as the oldest ever living man in the town during his life. Especially, the award he received personally at the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua during the late President Mills regime.

'Kramo Seidu' as he was also called because he used to dress like a muslim during fridays to visit his muslim friends, left behind five surviving children and uncountable grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Opanyin Kofi Asare's one week celebration was observed in Akyem Awisa on the 9th October, 2015 which attracted thousands of sympathizers. The final funeral rite is scheduled to take place at Abontenkesiem in Akyem Awisa from 11th - 13th December, 2015
