The 2015 Joy FM Skuuls Reunion has livened up the usually quiet and serene Independence Square, challenging the violent sea waves to a contest of excitement.
The Spartans of the University of Education, Winneba, the first group to arrive here, rightly took the first spot to perform.
They sang with the aggression and enthusiasm of children at play and won for themselves many admirers in the crowded square.
The Royal Gavians, also from the University of Winneba, made a grand entry into the performance zone. Energetic in their yellow tops, the roughly 40 jama team chant songs adapting familiar beats for their own purposes. The lyrics of their songs are not readily clear but you can discern that every song makes the point that their school is superior in Ghana - regardless of any technical opinion.
After about 25 minutes the performance suddenly ends like a power-cut. They hoist their flags and drums while the crowd join in appreciative clapping. The Royals walk out in a straight line looking pretty weary. Their next stop is undoubtedly an eatery where an assault on food will be irresistible
