10.10.2015 LISTEN
By Daily Guide

Three suspects—Abdul Sallam, 35, unemployed; Adam Sagri, 44, taxi driver; and  Dana Steven Nindo—were arrested by the police at Gushie in the Tamale metropolis for snatching a Punto ELX taxi with registration number NR 273-14 from its driver at knifepoint.

The complainant, Eric Asui, a taxi driver, said at about 4pm when he was going about his business, suspects Abdul Sallam and Dana Steven Nindo hired his services around the Goil filling station to Kanvilli, a suburb of Tamale.

He said they agreed on an undisclosed fee and that when they got closer to their destination, Abdul Sallam ordered him to slow down. He then pulled out a knife and stabbed him from behind and pushed him out of the car and sped off towards the Bolgatanga road.

Suspect Dana Steven Nindo then contracted Adam Sagri to drive the vehicle to Navrongo in the Upper East Region at an undisclosed amount.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the story to DAILY GUIDE, the complainant came to the police station and reported the case and the police sent wireless messages to all barriers along the Bolgatanga road for the arrest of the suspects. As a result, when the suspects got to the Savelugu barrier, a police officer stationed there, one Ototuo, recognised the car and alerted the next barrier at Gushie in the Savelugu Nanton District about the suspected vehicle. He then gave them a hot chase on his motorbike till they were nabbed at the Gushie barrier.

The suspects are currently in police custody at the Tamale police station and will be arraigned before the Tamale Magistrate Court on Monday.

Suspect Abdul Sallam will be charged for robbery while Adam Sagri and Dana Steven Nindo will be charged for abetment.
