Agogo (Ash), Oct. 09, GNA - The Asante-Akim North District Assembly failed to break the deadlock over the election of its Presiding Member (PM) after three rounds of voting could not produce a winner.

Three candidates - Mr. Agyemang Prempeh, Nana Boakye Yiadom and Mr. Frank Gyamfi, are running for the position.

Mr. Prempeh led the first round of voting by 13 votes, with his two other contestants polling 18 votes between them.

Mr. Gyamfi, on the other hand, consistently maintained the eight votes he received during the first round through to the final stage.

The District Electoral Officer, Madam Agyekum, after the stalemate announced the postponement of the election.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Peter Anarfi-Mensah, was among the large gathering that witnessed the election.

The 32-member assembly is expected to reconvene after 14 days to decide who becomes the PM.
