He emphasized, the government has also provided institutional support through the establishment of sub district level political structures, such as Urban, Town and Area

Councils and Unit Committees. These he said are vital structures which are meant to provide the required support to District Assemblies especially in the implementation of decisions, projects and programmes.

Again, he advised their election and appointment as Assembly Members are a mark of the confidence put in them by the people and therefore are expected to live up to the responsibilities reposed in them.

Assembly members are expected to explain policies for a better understanding to the ordinary Ghanaian in participatory democracy, he said.

The Municipal Chief Executive Richard Ofori Agyeman in his address, advised members to rise above sectarian partisanship and place the interest of the people over and above all consideration.

He promised as the head and leader of the Assembly to continue with his open door approach in administration in order to share ideas and consultation whenever necessary.
