Gomoa East Assembly PM elected unopposed

Gomoa Afransi, (C/R), Oct 8, GNA - Mr Fredrick Arthur, immediate past Presiding Member (PM) of the Gomoa East District Assembly, was on Tuesday re-elected unopposed by the members, to steer the affairs of the Assembly for two years.

This was in the wake of the official inauguration of the Assembly by Mr Afari Dartey, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Forestry Commission (FC), who also read the President's inaugural speech.

All 39 members both elected and Government appointees present, voted for Mr Arthur, who is an Officer of Electricity Company of Ghana.

The election was supervised by Mr Moses Tia, Gomoa East District Director of the Electoral Commission.

Mr Eric Ansah Awuah, Apam District Magistrate Court Judge sworn into office the Assembly Members and Presiding Member.

During short deliberations, members unanimously made an urgent appeal to the President to expedite action on the appointment of a new District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa East.

The Assembly has been without a DCE for the past nine months following the death of Mr Isaac Kingsley Ahunu-Armah who passed on in March this year after a short illness.

Mr Arthur thanked members for the confidence and trust reposed in him, and assured them that their welfare would be well catered for.

He urged the new assembly members to take steps to transform their various electoral areas in order for them to become better places to live in.

The PM urged the members to use their diverse rich experiences and expertise to explore more avenues to help rake in adequate revenue to support infrastructural development projects of the Assembly.
