TDC builds toilet facility for Chemu SHS

Tema, Oct 8, GNA - The Tema Development Corporation (TDC) has handed over an ultra-modern sanitary facility to the Chemu Senior High School.

The facility, valued at GH¢ 405,000, consists of 19 water closets, a wash room containing a bath and shower, a changing room, 11 urinal pots, one squat and one bidet for females.

In addition to the construction of the sanitary facility, the TDC also rebuilt the security post of the school.

Mr Joe Abbey, Managing Director of TDC, said his outfit decided to support the school with the project after an appeal was made by the school during its 2014 Speech and Prize giving day.

'I believe that it is not only our social responsibility but a moral right to help others hence it pleases us to rise to the call as the need arises,' he stated.

Mr Abbey added that as TDC's core mandate required them to build and manage unique and sustainable settlements to meet stakeholders' expectations, they also believed in high levels of education which required the provision of essential amenities for students.

He indicated that the Corporation pays importance to educational support because businesses need to go beyond their interest and attend to aspirations of host communities.

He appealed to the school to put in appropriate maintenance regime to the facility from early to advance, that was the only way it could justify any more support from the organizations.

Madam Felicia Asimeng-Kore, Headmistress of Chemu SHS thanked the TDC for the respond, noting that the facility would help improve students' health and learning.

Madam Asimeng-Kore appealed to other organizations, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and the old students to help construct a similar facility for the staff.

She lamented that the school needed many essential infrastructure but lacked funds to complete projects that have been commenced or start new ones.
