Concern For Excessive Loans In Ghana

Concern For Excessive Loans In Ghana
08.10.2015 LISTEN

Because the Forbes Report has brought to light the 20 richest people in Ghana, many Ghanaians have realized that the NDC government is the most corrupt one Ghana has witnessed since the nation's independence. Where did the three Mahama brothers amass their wealth? Besides being a politician, where did John Mahama make his fortune? Which business venture did he establish prior to his political ambition? Besides being the General Secretary of NDC, where did Asiedu Nketia (Mosquito) work? Why did many of the list comprise of NDC members? I believe this was the reason behind the defeat of NPP when the party launched its petition at the Supreme Court. The justices were offered bribes and where did Tsatsu Chikata make his fortune? I believe his name is among the richest in Ghana because the NDC rewarded him handsomely while Medical Doctors and nurses were denied their pay. I suggest that Anas should widen the net of his investigative apparatus to catch all these thieves and saboteurs of Ghana.

If Rwanda that is recovering from the genocide less than two decade ago has surpassed Ghana in terms of infrastructure and development what achievement can Mahama and his corrupt regime boast of in Ghana? If NDC cannot even resolve the dumsor dumsor problem, what can Mahama and his government do? There is no tangible achievement they have made that they can brag about.

My advice to the IMF and the International community is to desist from giving loans to the NDC government. The IMF and the international community are also culpable in perpetuating the looting of money by the Mahama government. Why does the IMF continue to pour money into a sinking hole? Does the IMF personnel who is in charge of loans for Ghana have a vested interest in these loans? How can our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren pay this incalculable debt when they are of age? If loans were given to Ghana for infrastructure, the best option would be that the lending nation or institution should designate a liaison who would be in charge to see to the completion of the project the loans have been allocated. This loan from France that Mahama is touting today will go to the pockets of his cronies and himself while Ghanaians are languishing in abject poverty. Time has come for Ghana as a nation to demand accountability and probity. Some of the criminals and thieves should go to jail. The corruption and its excess in Ghana must stop at least for the sake of our children and those yet to be born. Time has come for the citizens of Ghana to stand up for integrity, honesty, and selflessness. Do not stand aloof or sit on the sidelines. Get involved and stop the unprecedented thievery, looting, and corruption.
