Ho Assembly elects PM

Ho, Oct 7, GNA - The 44-member Ho Municipal Assembly on Tuesday successfully elected Mr Eric Seyram Bene, a teacher, as Presiding Member (PM), to crown its inauguration for the seventh term.

He polled 28 out of 42 votes, representing 67 per cent, to defeat Mr Stanley Glate, who got 13 votes.

Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, the Speaker of Parliament, read President Mahama's address, stressing the importance of the Assemblies as developmental tools.

He tasked the Assemblies to seek ways of increasing revenue for projects.

Mrs Fafa Adinyira, Municipal Chief Executive, urged the Assembly Members to provide the people the opportunities to make inputs into issues and decisions.

She advised them not to play to the gallery 'for unproductive popular support.'

Mr Benjamin Kpodo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho-Central, reminded the Assembly Members that the Assemblies were not political platforms.

Mr Robert Addo, a Magistrate, administered the official oath and secrecy to the members.

Mama Atrato the second, Queen of Dome, who presided, said the time for competition for election was over and that business had started.
