A group calling itself ‘Media Consult’ has petitioned the police over allegations that Member of Parliament for Efutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin took bribes to withdraw a case he filed against the Initial Public Offering of the ADB Bank.

According to the group, the action by the MP is not only a violation of parliamentary ethics but also criminal and wants him questioned by the Police.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin in a recent leaked tape was heard soliciting a one million Ghana cedis bribe from an official of ADB to withdraw a matter he filed against the company in court.

Nii Kotey Ashie, speaking for the group, said they have enough evidence to prove that the voice on the leaked tape is that of Afenyo-Markin.

“We feel this is unfortunate… we have enough information at our doorsteps that tells us that the tape we heard is his voice, we have spoken to people who have also confirmed that [it’s his voice].

“So we are petitioning the IGP and the speaker of parliament just to make sure they take this case up and investigate it to the latter”.
