NPP flags flying in Kumasi
RESIDENTS OF Kumasi, especially New Patriotic Party (NPP) members, are eager to welcome Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the party's flagbearer, who is set to visit the city Today.

The NPP bigwig is taking his popular 'Rise and Build' tour, which has seen him visiting most of the regions of the country – ostensibly to heal party wounds – to the Ashanti Region.

NPP supporters in Kumasi, which is without doubt Nana Akufo-Addo's strongest support base in the country, are in enthusiastic mood as they wait to see their political idol – whom they have not seen for some time now – in their midst.

These people had in recent times bombarded radio stations and other media networks in the city with persistent phone calls, asking about the details of Nana Akufo-Addo's proposed visit to the Garden City.

Prior to his arrival, executives of the largest opposition political party, had also painted the entire city with the red, white and blue colours of the NPP, sending signal that the flagbearer is coming to town. Virtually all the trees and electric poles in the city have been decorated with NPP's miniature flags.

When contacted, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, said the party's executives and millions of ardent supporters in the region were ready to welcome Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to him, the party's miniature flags had been hoisted throughout the city, adding that Nana Akufo-Addo's posters with inscription, 'I love Ghana,' had also been positioned at vantage points in Kumasi.

Throwing more light on Nana Addo's proposed visit, he said the astute politician and his entourage would arrive in Kumasi on Wednesday morning to begin the 'Rise and Build' tour, which would last for three days.

Wontumi revealed that Nana Akufo-Addo would this morning hold a crunch meeting with NPP regional executives and constituency chairmen, where party issues would be thoroughly discussed.

He said Nana Addo would visit the studios of Kessben Tv and radio Thursday morning for an interview and that that would create a platform for people in the city to interact with him through phone calls.

Wontumi, who was not prepared to give details of Nana Akufo-Addo's visit for obvious reasons, noted that the NPP leader would be engaged in other party activities until his visit comes to an end on Saturday.

He said that Nana Akufo-Addo's visit to the region the entire nation would realize that the NPP is strong and ready to wrest political power from the NDC in 2016.
