Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a leading waste management company in Ghana has supported the Regional Maritime University in a clean-p exercise.

Professor Elvis Nyarko, Vice Chancellor of the University, spearheaded the exercise during the celebration of its maiden Homecoming and Fundraising Event that brought together old and new students of the University.

As part of the event a clean-up exercise was organized and Zoomlion Ghana Limited supported the institution with personnel and logistics to undertake the clean-up exercise.

Logistics provided were wheelbarrows, brooms, nose mask, hand gloves, cutlasses, shovels and rakes.

The Vice Chancellor urged members at the function to keep their surroundings clean and inculcate the habit of promoting the best environmental practices.

He also said our educational institutions have a major role to play in propagating environmental issues as we train future leaders for our dear country.

This year’s homecoming was celebrated as part of the world maritime day celebrations under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization.

On his part, a Senior Communications Officer of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Daniel Ohene Obeng said the exercise was part of their Corporate Social Responsibility towards the communities and the institutions they operate in.

Zoomlion says it is committed to ensuring that public education is intensified to create the awareness of promoting good hygienic practices, logistics will be deployed for clean-up campaigns but advised that we should have a change of attitude towards the environment.

Zoomlion is a waste management company with over nine year’s expertise in Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM). Its operations spread across five (5) African countries namely; Togo, Liberia, Equatorial Guinea, Zambia and Angola. Other interventions by the company are; Oil waste treatment, liquid waste treatment technologies, Accra compost and recycling plant at adzen-kotoku, Landfill Management, Transfer station at Teshie-Nungua and Medical Waste for the treatment of healthcare waste.
