Defence Minister Inaugurates DIHOC Board

Dr. Benjamin Kunbour, Minister for Defence, has inaugurated a seven-member board to oversee the operations of the Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC) of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The board will give strategic direction to DIHOC and advise the minister on policy directions and operational strategies.

It would also provide guidance to the management of DIHOC in line with the Companies Act of Ghana.

The members of the board are Gilbert Kenneth Adjei, Deputy Defence Minister, Chairman, Vice Admiral Mathew Quarshie, Chief of Defence Staff, member, Brigadier General Anthony Komla Adokpa, Director-General, Defence Industry Department, member, Alidu Fuseni, Chief Director, Ministry of Defence, co-opted member, Colonel M’bawine Atintande, Director VAG Affairs, Ministry of Defence, member, Samuel Kwasi Anomah, CEO Osprey Int. Ltd, co-opted member and Colonel Moses Kofi Gyeke Asante, Director of Legal Affairs, Secretary.

DIHOC currently manufactures footwear in Kumasi through a joint partnership with Knights AS of Czech Republic.

Dr. Kunbour, in his remarks, said the Ministry would support DIHOC to promote its mission to collaborate with civil authority to boost the socio-economic development of Ghana.

Mr. Adjei, on behalf of other members of the Board, pledged to work assiduously to promote the mission, vision and objectives of DIHOC.

'We are aware of the numerous challenges being faced by the SOE’s DIHOC inclusive, and I assure that this board will try to face all these challenges and bring DIHOC to an enviable position among the SOEs in Ghana.

'As member of the board we shall also strive to give meaning and realization to the other divisions in various stages of development, especially the solar assembling sub-sector given the popular 'dumsor dunsor' in recent times,' he said.
