Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku has said she is optimistic of winning the Weija-Mallam-Gbawe constituency primaries and the general election in 2016 .

She said this when she joined the people of Kokroko, Mallam sub area to desilt a choked drain in the community and clean their environment.

In an interview with the media, she urged all people belonging to different political party to join the national sanitation day event to prevent another cholera outbreak in the community.

She further promised the people of Mallam communities of dustbins instead of dumping them into the gutters and in the environment.

Speaking on the upcoming primaries, she said, I am not in contest with anybody because my hard work speaks for itself and the people are going to endorse me not elect me".

She stated that, when given the mandate in 2016 general election, she is going to collaborate with the assembly to clean all filth in the community that leads to flood every rainy season.

Mr John Afful, branch chairman of the NDC in Mallam urged all political parties and the public to join the exercise, adding that the government placed premium on the sanitation day.

Concerning the rains, MrAfful cautioned Ghanaians to be mindful of how watercourses are kept, adding, “If they get choked, we have floods on our hands and that can claim lives and destroy property.”

On the benefits of the NSD, A member of the campaign team of Madam Oboubia, Mr. John Afful said there is numerous benefits in partaking in cleaning exercise, adding, “We can have our environment clean when every Ghanaian embraces the idea”.
