Company donates vehicle to Jacobu police

Jacobu (Ash), Oct. 05, GNA - A mining company operating in the Amansie Central District, Emerald Mining Ventures, has donated a brand new Nissan pick-up vehicle to the police to fight crime in the area.

This was timed to coincide with the inauguration of the district police headquarters by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Peter Anarfi-Mensah.

Mr. Kurt Vanovelen, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, said the gift was meant to aid police patrols to provide security protection for everybody.

He gave the assurance that as a good cooperate citizen, it would continue to live up to its social responsibility to the people.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Regional Commander, who was on hand to receive the keys to the vehicle, said they were grateful for the gesture.

It would significantly assist them to tackle armed robbery and other crimes in the district.

He called on the people to cooperate and provide strong support to the police to maintain law and order.

Mr. Anarfi-Mensah had earlier performed the ceremony to officially inaugurate the police headquarters and praised the district assembly for the project.

He encouraged officers and men of the service to sustain the good work they were doing to enable the law abiding to live in peace.

The Regional Minister was in the district to assess how government's funded development projects were helping to transform the lives of the people.
