New Tokunaso, (W/R) Oct. 4, GNA - Twenty three women from Makessim and New Tokunaso in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality and Preastea Huni Valley District have completed two week training in employable skills.

The sponsors of the training programme, Anglogold Ashanti and Iduaprem awarded the participants with certificates and some employable materials valued at GH¢ 34,000.00

The participants were trained in bakery, batik and tie and dye.

The Sustainability Manager of Iduaprem mines, Mr Emmanuel Baidoo said the programme which aimed at equipping the women in trades would help support their families and reduce poverty in their operation area.

He said the company would continue to partner the vocational institutes like the Catholic Vocational institute who train them to equip people in their catchment area.

Mr Baidoo urged the women to add value to the knowledge acquired and create wealth for themselves and their family.

The sustainability manager noted that not much impact have been made by the people after undergoing what he called countless employable programmes by the company.

He expressed the hope that the new trainees would change the perception people have on such programmes and be shining examples to others.

The Director of National Board for Small Scale Industries for Tarkwa Nsueam, Mr Francis Baghr, expressed the need for the women to keep records of their business.
