Accra, Oct. 3, GNA - Madam Ida, President of Accra East Sub-Transmission Region of the Electricity Corporation of Ghana, has called for skills training programmes for mentally challenged persons.

She said there is the need for skills development programmes tailored to meet their challenges and to resolve the problem of them being a nuisance in society and always being in need.

Ms Ida stated during a presentation of assorted food items to Accra Psychiatric Hospital by ECGs Power Queens - the items includes kenkey, rice and fruit juice.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Ms Ida said catering for the mentally challenged persons should also include training packages.

She therefore called on other stakeholders to be timely in associating themselves with mentally challenged persons through regular visit to the Psychiatric Hospitals.

The Power Queens had fun with the mentally challenged persons.

The Power Queens since 2002, has decided to chose a day in the year as part of their week-long celebration to donate to the Female F1 ward of the hospital.

Ms Ida said the visit was done 'to show how victimised we all are realizing their dilemma and closeness to society.'
