AngloGold Ashante Iduaprium Mine, Tarkwa, have commissioned 3 unit J.H.S facility at Abomponiso, a town located in the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality.

The project forms part of the company’s 2015 community trust fund project.

The facility includeskitchen, washroom, 16 Seater aqua privies, 6 seater aqua privy toilets and rehabilitation of Teberebe toilet facility and is estimated at a cost of GHc 434,469.00.

The Community Trust Fund was established to improve the living standard of people within the company’s catchment area.

It was launched in September, 2012 as part of the Iduapriem Investment Strategy to support long team sustainable development of host communities.

Speaking at the inauguration of the J.H.S facility, the Senior Manager – sustainability of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem, Emmanuel Baidoo said it is the vision of the company to improve the living standard of people within their catchment area.

He said that to demonstrate commitment to living these values, the company in it's community investment strategy has focuses on health, water and sanitation, education and youth development as well as local economic development.

Mr. baidoo mentioned that this is driven by the spirit of community participation and partnership with the Municipal Assembly.

Professor Newton Amegbey, the chairman of Iduapriem Community Trust Fund also added that education continues to remain paramount world over and it is in that regard that parents has to priorities educating their children.

Professor Newton Amegbey finally urged communities benefiting from the sanitary facilities to cultivate the culture of maintenance to ensure that these facilities live long to serve their intended purposes as well as to improve sanitation and hygiene in our communities which is essential to our well-being.
