WISA Salutes Ghana Sports Women
29.09.2015 LISTEN

Women in Sports Association(WISA) an NGO with a nationwide representation which which seeks to empower women through sports. Membership comprises all women of sporting concerns ie. sporting athletes (participants), Referees, Journalists, ,Administrators and all other patrons who have passion for female investment in sporting activities.

As we celebrate our one year of existence since the inauguration on 27th September, 2014 at the forecourt of Trinity Theological Seminary chapel, the group is yet to hit the ground running in line with our set objectives and targets, membership drive ongoing vigorously with visits to various institutions and centers hosting sports activities with with our leading executives President Ms Eunice Adwoa Serwaa and Ms Alice Quinoo at the forefront of organizations and direction.

Our main challenges have been operational resources and mainly finances. We therefore use this occasion to acknowledge the generosity of Madam Gloria Commodore (Aunty Gloria) a Director and the Executive Secretary who have been our financial pillar since day one.It is our priority now is to mobilize the necessary resources to enhance our operations as we envisage, hence our call for the needed support in the form sponsorship and partnership from the corporate world and meaning individuals with women sporting concerns at heart.

Is our pride to use the modest positive results of all the female award winners in the just ended 11th All African Games in Brazzivile -Congo as the icing on our cake for the 1st year anniversary. It is now fair to highlight and acknowledge the following for adding the thier names to the list medal winners in the history of All African Games (AAG) participants.

It is evident from the records above how the ladies contributed in the medal haul at the games.Paradoxically, it seems the powers that be and the general sporting public doesn't appreciate and value what they achieved, hence the poor treatment being meted to the victorious Black Queens with regards to the payments of thIer winning bonuses and other compensations and renumerations due them.

WISA finally wish to use the occasion to call on the government, Sports Ministry and the various federations in charge of sports management to end the negative discriminatory practice and attitudes towards Women Sports Practitioners as we are no more going to play second fiddle to any body henceforth. WISA -EMPOWERING WOMEN SPORTS.
