Two armed robbers in the early hours of today, attacked and robbed some drivers and passengers of unspecified amount of money and mobile phones, along the Beposo-Nsuta road in the Sekyere Central District in Ashanti region.

According to Chief Inspector James Henry Amoh of Nsuta Police Station, the police had distress call from one of the victims around 4:45am but when they reached at the crime scene the armed robbers had managed to run away.

He said the police escorted the drivers and the passengers to Nsuta police Station where they took their statements adding that they were investigating the case. He said as at the time of the interview, they have not arrested any suspect.

Charles Kwadwo Duro, one of the victims, a driver of Toyota Obama mini bus with registration number AS 5046-15, said he was travelling from Beposo to Kumasi and after turning a curve just near a branch road leading to Nsuta District Education Office (GES), around 3:45am, he saw a travelling bag on the road.

He said thinking that it was a luggage from a moving vehicle, he reversed to pick it and immediately he stopped two people emerged from the bush, masked and armed with AK 47 raffle and a pistol ordered him and the passengers to get down.

He said they ordered them to lie down and robbed them of their money and mobile phones. He said a taxi cab and a Ford from Effiduase were also attacked. But the forth taxi cab managed to escape.
