PNC raises alarm over distribution of party cards
11.09.2015 LISTEN

Kumasi, Sept. 10, GNA - The Peoples National Convention (PNC) has raised an alarm over the alleged printing and distribution of the party's membership cards to non-members of the party in the Ashanti Region.

Mr Abraham Kabah, the Regional Secretary of the party, says some unknown people are going round the region, issuing the party's cards under the pretext of registering them into the PNC.

Addressing a news conference at the party's regional offices in Kumasi on Wednesday, Mr Kabah, said the act is unlawful and warned that, the party would deal ruthlessly with people who would be caught in the nefarious act.

He said the party is going to report the matter to the police for further investigations.

He said the regional executive had evidence that some people in Manso-Nkwanta, Nsuta, Asante Mampong, Agona and Ejisu-Juaben districts, who are not members, are in possession of the party's cards.

Mr Kabah said the party suspects that those 'faceless cowards behind this nefarious criminal act are enemies of the party'.

'We are very vigilant; we have alerted our rank and file in the region to resist those cowardly acts, aimed at creating confusion and division within the rank and file of the party in the region,' Mr Kabah said.

He said the party's membership cards are issued from the National Secretariat only through the National Secretary, to the regional secretariat and then to constituency offices for onward distribution to members.

Mr Kabah warned that anyone found in possession of the party's cards through the 'backdoor' would be arrested and prosecuted.
