EDAIF Approves GH28.5 To 135 Beneficiaries

One Hundred and Thirty-Five (135) Ghanaian producers and entrepreneurs within the public and private sectors have benefited from an amount of GH¢ 28.5 approved by the Export Trade, Agricultural and Industrial Development Fund (EDAIF) in the past three month.

Specific sectors that received funding include poultry, agriculture production, agro-processing and manufacturing.

The Export Trade, Agricultural and Industrial related activities of three public sector institutions were also supported to enable them implement a number of projects.

According to Dr. Barfour Osei, Chief Executive of EDAIF, a new phase of the EDAIF funded project in the area of mango production, which is in its sixth year of implementation, has also received financial support to expand the mango cultivation by an additional 2,800 acres in all regions of the country in 2015.

The Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund (EDAIF), is an agency of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Government of Ghana.

Established on October 4, 2000, the fund aims to provide financial resources and assistance for the development and promotion of the export trade of Ghana.

In 2011, the fund was expanded to include the development and promotion of agriculture, related to the agro-processing industry, hence the change of name to include “Agriculture”, and per the new bill, recently passed, EDAIF now provides funds for export trade, agriculture and Industrial development.
