Charitable arm of Vodafone Ghana, Vodafone Ghana Foundation has organised a free health screening exercise for residents of La municipality in Accra, as part of the foundation’s health support to the Ga corporate social responsibility.

Beneficiaries had their blood pressure checked, as well as their eyes, ears, and teeth. They were also screened on Malaria, Tuberculosis, and sugar levels, Hypertension and Hepatitis B, among others.

The health screening dubbed Healthfest is part of the foundation’s nationwide free health screening exercise aimed at bring quality healthcare to the doorsteps of Ghanaians.

Speaking to the media, Head of Vodafone Ghana Foundation, Nana Yaa Ofori-Koree, said Vodafone Ghana remains committed to quality healthcare delivery.

“We have several projects like Healthline, Healthline 255 mobile applications in the health sector because we want to empower Ghanaians about their health.”

According to her, over 5,000 people benefited from the free screening exercise last year which was the maiden edition.

“Over 2,000 people had already benefited from the exercise this year in Greater Accra and that over 700 people in La were expected to be screened” she added.

Head of Vodafone Ghana Foundation said Vodafone was very happy about bringing the free health screening programme to the people of La, adding that the service is timely.

In an interview, one of the residents, Bernice Larkai, was grateful to Vodafone for coming into the area to particularly screening children.

“But for Vodafone, some of us would have never had the time or the money to go to the hospital for this check-up. I am particularly happy to see a lot of children here; they are our future leaders and need quality healthcare,” she added.
