Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur says President John Mahama is prepared to face competition from anyone as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) readies for its presidential primary.

The governing party will on November 7 hold elections to select parliamentary and presidential candidates for the 2016 elections.

Addressing the media after picking forms on behalf of President Mahama, the Vice President said the president is confident of getting re-elected.

“The president with a deep sense of humility and responsibility is seeking a renewal of his mandate as leader of this party and as president of this nation and we are confident that the people of this country will renew this mandate.

“We are not worried about internal competition, the president is confident that he will be victorious in the party’s selection process”, he added.

Mr Amissah-Arthur said the president acknowledges the democratic rights and ambitions of other people in the party and will not “begrudge them for having such ambitions.”

Meanwhile, Executives of the party have asked presidential aspirant George Boateng to follow the laid down procedures if he wants to be considered in the race.

Mr Boateng declared his intention to challenge President Mahama earlier this week when he picked up nomination forms.

Party executives say his form is void because it has not been officially endorsed.

Also, the party has dismissed officials who issued the presidential forms to Mr Boateng.
