Media Foundation replaces GBC journalist's recorder destroyed by Stan Dogbe

The Media Foundation for West Africa has presented a new voice recorder to GBC reporter Yahaya Kwamoah whose recorder was destroyed by presidential staffer Stan Dogbe.

The Foundation’s program officer for Free Expression Saeed Muheeb presented a digital recorder to GBC’s director of Radio, Roland Affail Monney who assigned the journalist.

Yahaya Kwamoah had been assigned to the 37 Military Hospital to report on the presidential press corps accident that left Ghanaian Times reporter Samuel Nuamah dead and several others injured.

He was chased by Stan Dogbe after he was found prying on a private conversation between the presidential staff and Information minister.

Stan Dogbe seized his recorder and smashed it, Mr. Monney who doubles as the GJA President revealed. The journalist has not spoken about the matter as directed by GBC Management.

But Executive Director of Media Foundation for West Africa Sulemana Braimah says the presentation should not be seen as the close of the brutal assault on the journalist.

He is charging the presidency to demonstrate commitment to protect journalists by taking appropriate action against Stan Dogbe.
