Tarkwa Circuit Court presided over by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante has remanded a 37 year old businessman for issuing a false Cheque to one Stephen Dankwa - Smith, a Businessman.

The accused person, Bismark Amofa pleaded not guilty and would re-appear before the court on September 7th.

Presenting the fact, Detective Chief Inspector Osacr Amponsah told the court that complainant Stephen Dankwa-Smith is a businessman based in Tarkwa whilst the accused Bismark Amofa is also a businessman based in Abuakwa, Kumasi.

He narrated to the court that on 7th July, 2015, the accused person and his brother-in-law Denis Adjei approached the complainant for a loan of GHc 15,000.00.

According to the prosecutor, the accused person then issued his Stanbic Bank Cheque No. 000030 with face value of GHc 18,000.00 dated 7th August, 2015 to be cashed at the bank’s branch at Tarkwa on 26th August, 2015 to defray the said loan.

Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah said on 26th August, 2015, when the complainant presented the Cheque at the said bank, it was dishonored that the account has been closed.

He said a report was made to the Police. The accused person was arrested by Police Sofoline, Kumasi in another case which is pending investigations and informed Tarkwa Police for his collection.

Accused admitted the offense in his investigation caution statement. After investigations, he was charge with the offense and arraigned before court.
