Residents in and around the Burma Camp in Accra have expressed frustrations over what appears as an increased alert level by the Ghana Armed forces.

Sentries at the entry points to the Burma Camp have been ordered to inspect national identification cards of individuals before allowing them entry into the installation, StarrFMonline.com sources have confirmed.

The directive, according to the sources, also affects personnel of the army.

It is unclear the basis for the directive but StarrFMonline.com sources within the army say it was triggered by a recent development at the military base.

The Public Affairs Director of the Armed Forces Lieutenant Aggrey Quashie has confirmed the fiat but says it is a random exercise by the army.

The development comes on the back of reports of an ongoing recruitment by the lslamist militant group ISIS in Ghana.

So far, two Ghanaians are believed to have joined the group in their base at Iraq and Syria.

Nazir Nortei Alema, a 25-year-old graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and another person, whom the national securities identified only as Rafiq, are the individuals believed to have joined the blood thirsty group.
