Nangodi (UE), Sept 1, GNA - A former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Organiser of the UK Branch, Mr Baba Donatus Anaba, has declared his intention to contest for the party's primary in the Nabdam Constituency of the Upper East Region.

Mr Anaba, who holds Masters in International Development from the School of the Oriental and African Studies of University of London, UK, announced his intention when he picked his nomination forms at the party's constituency office in the Nabdam.

Speaking to the media after the picking of his nomination form, he said what informed his decision to contest for the seat was the drawback of development in the constituency.

He said as a development practitioner, should he be given the nod, his top priorities would be education, agriculture, health and sanitation and that he would do that with the support from government and to also lobby with NGOs, Churches, foundations to help address the needs.

The Aspirant who is currently the Administrator of the Euroget Group, a Company in Ghana, said as somebody who spent a lot of his time working in the United Kingdom , he had a lot of links with many of development agencies and when voted as the member of parliament, he lobby for more developmental projects for the constituency.

He stated that he would also adopt the bottom up approach and broader consultations by forming education, agriculture, health, sanitation committees to help him address developmental challenges.

'On education particularly the committee will help me identify brilliant but needy students to support them in their education.

'I will also help empower the youth in the constituency with jobs by building their capacity in the area of skills, supporting them to set up their businesses as well as given them the necessary support to go into dry season farming instead of migrating to southern sectors in search of menial jobs', he said.

Mr Anaba said he would support women by organising them to form associations and look for microfinance for them to go into trading as well as build centres for the elderly and support them in addressing their health needs.

The Aspirant, who said the election is not about him but about the development of the constituency, impressed upon the electorate to vote him to enable him address the developmental challenges.
