Former MCE to contest Ledzokuku NDC Primary

Accra, Aug 31, GNA - Mr Daniel Amartey Mensah, immediate past Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Chief Executive, has picked nomination forms at the constituency office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Teshie, to contest the November 7 Parliamentary Primary.

Mr Mensah will be contesting with the sitting Member of Parliament (MP), Mrs Benita Sena Okity-Duah, and a former MP, Mr Nii Nortey Dua.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at his residence, Mr Mensah said he was overwhelmed by the support given by party members and supporters on Friday when he picked his forms.

He said, based on his loyalty and commitment to the NDC for the past 23 years, he stood the chance of winning the November primary.

The former MCE said, as a grassroots person, he understood the problems down there better than any of the candidates, and so he was the right person to lead the constituents in the 2016 polls.

Mr Mensah said, as a Constituency Chairman in 2005, NDC was able to reduce the votes of the New Patriotic Party from 38,00 to 31,000 in the 2008 parliamentary elections, while those of the NDC increased from 33,000 to 41,000.

He gave the assurance that when given the nod to become the parliamentary candidate, history was going to repeat itself, because he would work hard to increase the votes of the NDC in the constituency to at least 65,000.

Mr Mensah, therefore, appealed to biometrically qualified constituents to vote massively for him, come November 7.
