Re: Hon. Kofi Buah Has Deceived Ellembelle
30.08.2015 LISTEN

We the executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Esiama Zone of the Ellembele Constituency have observed with keen interest recent press releases circulating in the media and purported to have been released by a group calling itself “Esiama Zonal NDC Youths”.

The group is claiming that the sitting Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah does not deserve their support for another term in Parliament because he has “betrayed the NDC youth of Esiama Zone” and lost the support of the people.

At the centre of this protest is Mr. Musah Fuseini, a former assistant to the MP who has been accused of scuttling the ambitions of many Ellembele youth by refusing them sponsorships and scholarships. The group has further accused Hon. Buah of ‘sponsoring” Mr. Fuseini to contest the primaries in the Pru Constituency when he could have sponsored Nzemas to contest the primaries in the Ellembele Constituency.

First, we doubt that this press release is being circulated by people from the NDC, since genuine members of the NDC know how and where to channel their grievances. Second, we suspect that this is a plot by some faceless enemies of Hon. Buah who do not want him to contest the primaries for fear that his stature will guarantee him yet another victory and thereby another term in Parliament.

However, we wish to make it clear to the group (assuming without accepting that it is truly a disgruntled group within the NDC), to all the people of Ellembele Constituency and to all NDC sympathisers at large that:

  1. Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah deserves another shot at the Ellembele parliamentary seat because, with the socio-economic development that he has brought to Nzemaland through his own initiative and political acumen, he has proven to be the best man for the job at this time in the history of Ellembele. He therefore needs our support to win the primaries and the general elections.

  1. Insinuations by this unknown group that Hon. Buah is grooming ‘other tribes aside Nzemas’ for political positions are completely misplaced, if not palpably false. Hon. Buah has demonstrated an unmatched penchant for supporting the youth of Nzemaland through sponsorships that have helped many of them further their education – particularly at the secondary and tertiary levels. Indeed, he has sponsored quite a number of Nzemas to undertake educational courses abroad and followed it up by assisting them to secure relevant employment. This is why a group of educational returnees who benefitted from his sponsorship have formed an association which will soon be launched. Besides, if Hon. Buah sponsored any non-Nzemas, then it was based on his personal principle that every Ghanaian who holds promise needs to be supported. Even so, he has not supported more ‘strangers’ than his own people.

  1. To set the records straight about Mr. Musah Fuseini, the prime target of the group, it must be clarified that he was not the Personal Secretary since “the first day Hon. Buah assumed office as MP”. Indeed, there were two preceding personal Assistants who were Nzemas – Mr. Ben Dade Kofie, who was himself sponsored to undertake a course abroad and Mr. Matthew Kainyah, who was re-assigned due to some strategic considerations. Mr. Fuseini was brought in later to hold the fort. As for his ambition to run for Parliament in 2016 he, like everybody else, has the right to decide his future and that decision was not made by Hon. Buah, who has in fact dissociated himself from Mr. Fuseini’s bid to contest the primaries.

  1. The claim that Hon. Buah has lost popularity among Nzemas is simply laughable. We believe that the massive endorsement that Hon. Buah enjoys from members of the NDC is why the group is complaining that “the people of our party are becoming hypocrites or because of money and foodstuffs the MP do give us”. In fact, considering the level of development Hon. Buah has brought to Nzemaland, the people are aware of the incalculable loss to Nzemas, should he cease to be the MP for the constituency. They believe therefore that it is right for them to stand firmly behind him.

We wish to reiterate that the Zonal Executives of Esiama are not in any way connected to this group and there is no problem of that scale within the Constituency or the Zone as the group would want everybody to believe. As Executives of Ellembele Constituency, we are sure that if there were any contentions within the Zone and the Constituency as far as the youth is concerned, we should be in a better position to explain.

To this end, it is regrettable for this or any other group to publish such falsehood in a disingenuous attempt to bring the name of Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah into disrepute. Once again, we wish to state that the group “Esiama Zonal NDC Youths” is not known to us. We are hereby entreating the people of Ellembele, Nzemaland and the general public to treat the statement with the contempt it deserves.

Finally, we the Zonal Executives of Esiama wish to declare our full support for Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah ahead of the parliamentary primaries and elections and wish him well as he pursues his developmental agenda for Ellembele and Nzemaland.

Long Live Esiama Zonal NDC!
Long Live Hon. Armah Kofi Buah!
Long Live Ellembele NDC Constituency!
Long Live Ghana!
