Dr. Josiah Aryeh, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has remarked that the party's vice-presidential candidate, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, who was involved in a motor accident in the wee hours of yesterday September 28, is now out of the race of the Castle.
Explaining this position to a number of radio stations yesterday while the news broke out Josiah Aryeh argued that the NDC had only nine weeks left to campaign for the December 7 General election. Therefore it could not afford to wait for the MP for Kumbungu to recover from his accident,.
The general secretary also told journalists that he and his party suspects foul play. He alluded to the fact that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government masterminded the accident. According to Dr. Josiah Aryeh the plot could not have been hatched by opponents of Mumuni in the race for the running mate slot. Narrating his version of events to newsmen, Dr. Aryeh, said that Alhaji Mumuni received a phone call from a mysterious person at 3.00am and that was when his car run into a ditch while responding to that call.
According to Dr. Josiah Aryeh, the Alhaji had a program planned for the day with Alhaji Huudu Yahaya the former General Secretary of the party. “How could someone who had a programme planned for the morning leave his house at 3.00am” he queried.
Dr. Aryeh continued that Mumuni was found by a Nigerian wearing a green eagle track suit, who took him out of the vehicle after the accident. “The natural question that arises is that how come the man who was jogging suddenly find a car to bring Mumuni to the hospital”. This is a mystery, he concluded.
