In the quest to strengthen the petroleum sector and build strong ties with the energy hubs of the world, Hon.Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has visited Russia.

On the three days States visit, the Minister met with his counterpart in Moscow and they discussed matters of mutual benefit to both countries.

In the company of the Chief Executive Officer of GNPC Alex Mould, Theophilus Ahwireng who heads the Petroleum Commission and a high profile delegation from the Petroleum ministry, the Minister visited the headquarters of LUKOIL.

LUKOIL is the leader of the Russian oil industry in exploration, production, refining and marketing of petroleum Products. The Company has over ten trillion barrels in proven reserves.

At this very important meeting, Hon. Buah amongst other proposals, called for strategic partnership to revamp and expand the production capacity of Tema Oil Refinery. He emphasized that an expanded TOR has the potential to take over the refined petroleum products market in the sub-region.

As part of the visit, he met with the Ghanaian community at the Ghana Embassy in Moscow. He assured them of government’s commitment to deliver on its promise of building a better Ghana. According to the Minister, a lot is being done to build local capacity to take strategic positions in Ghana’s emerging oil and gas industry. He pledged an amount of ten thousand (10,000) dollars to the Ghana Students welfare fund.

In the end, he was thankful to His Excellency Dr. Alabo Ghana’s ambassador to Russia for his relentless efforts to strengthen what he described as a long standing friendship between Ghana and Russia.
