Pan Handling Journalists Are Killing Ghana—Kennedy Agyapong
24.08.2015 LISTEN

Journalists practicing in Ghana have taken a hard hit from one of the law makers who says part of the country’s problems are being caused by their illegal practices.

Without looking above his shoulder, the Member of Parliament [MP] for Asin Central in the Central Region of Ghana, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has blasted some of the Ghanaian journalists for illegally collecting money from people.

Not mincing words, Kennedy Agyapong, described the journalists as “pan handling journalists who go after NDC ministers, party executives, communicators, District Chief Executives [DCE’s] as well as government agents for money to spike good stories”

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, hit hard at Ghanaian journalists recently when addressing Ghanaians at a town hall meeting in Toronto-Canada which was organized by the NPP-Toronto Chapter.

Sounding very plain, he stated that many of the country’s fine journalists are now delinquent because they collect “SOLIDARITY” which in media parlance is termed “SOLI” from corrupt people to kill stories that can expose wrong doing.

“Most of the problems we have as a country now stems from the fact that most of our journalists are collecting “SOLI” to kill stories that would help us expose much of the corrupt activities going on in the country” he revealed.

The Asin Central MP quizzed, “how can the country move forward in development if our so called noble men and women in the inky fraternity charged with numerous responsibilities including exposing corruption rather collects money from corrupt people to throw away hard core evidence and facts against their corrupt practices?”.

He saluted the few who are not delinquent and exposing the ills in the system for solution and urged them to keep their position on fairness since the crown of glory awaits their hard work.

But for those who are not changing, he call on the ordinary citizens to expose the “the soli journalists” when they collects soli to kill stories to serve as deterrent to others as part of efforts to win the war against corruption and bad governance.

Addressing the meeting earlier, the MP for Tema East Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover, blamed the NDC government for doing nothing to solve the doctor’s strike.

According to the Tema East MP, the problem is not the doctor’s demands but rather that of President Mahama and his ministers’ inability to negotiate that is why the doctors are on strike and there are many strikes in the country.

He stated that the management approach of the NDC government under president Mahama is the problem as Titus Glover again asked,” won’t the government provide the Cuban doctors an accommodation, give them cars and supply them with fuel to work?

“If the government is going to supply the Cuban doctors with all that to our intelligent and experienced doctors are asking for to enable them work but president Mahama says he can not supply same facilities to our doctors and going for Cuban doctors does it make sense?” he queried the government.

Titus Glover made it clear to the government that President Rau Castrol of Cuba very much aware of the Ghanaian doctors situation will never ever dispatch Cuban doctors to work in Ghana since the conditions of service they will demand are the same Ghanaian doctors are demanding.

He asked NPP members to take heart since the party’s 2016 presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo is in charge and no one can stop the victory that is coming.
