Ghana’s ever-reigning Hiplife/Hilife musical whiz-kids—the evergreen musical executioner Obrafour, hilife golden vocalists Nana Quame and K.K Fosu; hiplife sensational 2-Shy, B-Nice and the talented Nick Breezy on Wednesday 12th August, 2015 paid homage to the welcoming studios of Amansan Radio in Bronx, New York.

These renowned heavy-weight musicians were hosted by the versatile Ms Catherine Cudjoe (Key Mama) on one of the “highly inflammable” (to borrow Obrafour’s lyrics) programs of Amansan christened the “Key Mama Show”.

Indeed, Obrafour—the culturally-groomed musical stalwart exhibited tenets of his tradition by leading the group to pay courtesy call to the Station and formerly announce their presence in New York for the upcoming mega Pre-Ghana Parade Concert at Ghanatta Hall, Bronx. The gesture was synonymous to Ghanaian customs and traditional practice which demands a visitor to call on the traditional Head or Leader of his hosting town or village.

They looked poised and ready to unleash their musical powers by way of performing their good old hits, latest tracks and other melodious songs callers were highly yearning for. A caller asked why a show of these stars attracts only $25. Nana Quarme replied that their presence in New York is not to “make money but to proudly mingle with fellow Ghanaians” for the Ghana Unity Parade march on Saturday 15th August and urged everyone to join. Need I say anything about patriotism? All he requested from fans was “White Hand-kerchiefs to celebrate the Lord and Ghana”.

Obrafour expressed deep appreciation to the management of Amansan Radio, NY for their role as the mouth-piece of Ghanaians and Africans at large in the diaspora. K.K Fosu, just like all others promised nothing but “fireworks” on Friday August 14th at Ghanatta Hall, 2180 Webster Ave, Bronx NY 10457. Ticket is $25.00. Showtime: 8pm until your dancing shoes wear off.
