Give Us Proof Or Forever Hold Your Peace – Afoko Dares Critics

The office of the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Paul Afoko, is receiving reports from some party members from across the country to the effect that Mr. Paul Afoko, either by himself or in concert with others, is working towards a possible defeat of the party's flagbeaerer for the 2016 presidential election, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

This wrong, wicked and unfortunate impression according to the said party members are being perpetrated by other NPP persons believed to be profiting from so-called misunderstandings and/or perceived divisions at the top echelons of the party.

Though the party members say they do not believe Mr. Afoko is doing any such thing as working against the flagbearer, they are nonetheless worried that such deliberate falsehood, if not curbed, would not promote unity and cohesion in the party for a strong campaign towards the 2016 general elections.

It is therefore worrying that such wrong impression have sadly been repeated in the media by persons who should know the effects of such deliberate falsehood on the fortunes of the party in the general elections ahead. Recently, Messrs George Ayisi-Boateng in the Chronicle Newspaper, Philip Addison on myjoyonline.com, Ken Kuranchie in The Punch Newspaper and as recently as Wednesday, July 29, 2015 by Hon. Atta Akyea on Star Fm and which was repeated on starfomonline.com, have all, without any basis whatsoever, made such unfortunate allegations against Mr. Afoko.

Again, what is worth noting and very worrying is that any time such unfortunate allegation(s) are made against the national chairman and repeated and/or discussed in the media, the negative image suffered by the party has been immeasurable to say the least.

Mr. Paul Afoko is however gratified that party members and sympathizers are gradually seeing through the falsehood being perpetrated about or against him without any bases.

I am therefore calling on the National Council of Elders and all those genuinely concerned to call on such persons who throw out such allegations that the National Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Paul Afoko, is working against a possible victory of the party?s flagbearer in the 2016 presidential election to provide proof of why they say so, or forever hold their peace and know that they are rather working against the flagbearer?s victory in 2016!
