Ghana, Interreligious Dialogue Opened The Door To Peace

[Ghana Accra] The HWPL World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Office Meeting co-hosted by Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light (HWPL) and Ghana Islamic University was held in Accra on July 31st 2015. It was the very first meeting in Ghana meanwhile the HWPL WARP Office, which has been established globally with 85 offices in 51 countries, will also be held in many parts of the world.

With the topic - “How come did peace disappear?”, religious leaders from Islam, Protestantism, Sikhism, and indigenous religions in Ghana discussed and shared their opinions. Rev. Samuel Asiedu-Amoako as a representative of Catholic said “If any religion does not bring peace to ourselves and around us, then we are on the wrong path. And that path is not the path of any religion, but the path of evil, anarchy and destruction.”.

Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (“HWPL”) is a non-profit international peace organization that has conducted peace movement enthusiastically and systematically in the world. HWPL hosted World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Summit in September, 2014 and this year established WARP Peace office with international cooperation.

Mr. Man Hee Lee, the chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace Restoration of Light proclaimed, “We should bring cessation of religious war and be united in one true religion”. Accordingly, the HWPL Peace Office provided a neutral platform for the religious leaders to accomplish world peace.

The Republic of Ghana has long history for peace and freedom. Through the struggles and political upheaval, the first Ghanaian Republic was established in 1960. However still they face many daunting tasks ahead for democracy and liberty. At this present, HWPL have suggested a solution with the case of Mindanao, Philippines.

The island of Mindanao, located in the southern Philippines, was a region full of painful cries and gunshots due to its 40-year war between the government and the Moro-Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The victims were more than 150 thousand civilians so it was one of the most dangerous areas in Asia. However Man Hee Lee, chairman of HWPL, led the signing of a peace agreement in Jan 2014 between the Islam leader and the Catholic leader in Mindanao, which was the nation’s first interreligious agreement. As a continuation of the waves of peace, a peace agreement was also signed between the government and rebels. Mindanao’s promise to cease fire and unite in peace delivered hope to the international community.

After the peace agreement, last June the MILF decided to turn in the weapons voluntarily to accelerate the implement of peace. The president of the Philippines Benigno S. Aquino said, “It was far beyond our expectations to see the disarmament of longtime opponent against this government” that underlined the key role of HWPL for the peace process.

HWPL’s footsteps toward peace reached Ghana, which attracted a great amount of attention on the results of the first HWPL WARP Office meeting and HWPL’s peace works to come.
