Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the running mate to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2016 elections, has donated several quantities of iron rods, packets of roofing sheets and 100 bags of cement worth GH¢20,000 to the Islamic Girls Senior High School in Suhum in the Eastern Region.

Dr Bawumia, who visited the school on Thursday to present the items, said it had been his dream to assist the school that was commissioned by his father, Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, former Chairman of the Council of State in 1999.

He was happy about the population growth and academic performance of the school, the school having been ranked third in the Eastern Region and 16th in the country.

He said if the NPP got the nod in 2016, his outfit would support the school with the necessary logistics to enhance effective teaching and learning.

During the presentation, he urged all the students and their parents to vote massively for the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, in the 2016 elections for better investment in the educational sector.

Hajia Sarifatu, the headmistress of the school, on behalf of the school, commended Dr Bawumia for supporting the school and added that she was particularly grateful for donations made to support the school's ongoing storey building project.

She also appealed to the general public to come to the aid of the school since it lacks infrastructure.

Dr Bawumia was accompanied by his wife Samira, Frederick Opare Ansah, Suhum MP, as well as the Eastern Regional and the Suhum Constituency NPP executives.
