President Mahama Should Tell Ghanaians What Killed Atta Mills.
01.08.2015 LISTEN

TORONTO-CANADA. [July 29, 2015]-People should start accusing the National Democratic Congress [NDC] government of President John Dramani Mahama for failing to investigate the circumstances that caused the demise of late president Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

The NDC government was at the time of the demise of the late president in a hurry to hold elections in its bid to hang on to power without due consideration of the death of the late president.

Ever since it has been very difficult to ask the government of the NDC and its leader Mr. John Dramani Mahama to institute investigations especially about what happened before president Mills died.

Everyone knows that on July 24, 2012, the news media reported the death of late president John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills. But what actually caused the untimely demise of the late president continue to remain a secret

From all speculations being reviewed in the media, the point is that, no one seems to know what exactly caused the late first gentleman’s demise, and the government of president John Mahama is also not willing to tell the nation what happened as some NDC activists keep on saying,” NO NEED TO INVESTIGATION ATTA MILLS DEATH”.

President John Dramani Mahama and his NDC government should be accused because three years after the demise of his predecessor, no investigations have been conducted to establish the circumstances that led to Professor Atta Mills death.

Because investigations have not been conducted to ascertain the true cause of Professor Atta Mills death for the past three years, both the print and electronic media practitioners, politicians and ordinary persons are finding it necessary reviewing speculations surrounding the late president’s death.

But if the president of Malawi, Her Excellency Joyce Banda, was able to establish the cause of her predecessor late President Bingu wa Mutharika’s shocking death through a Commission of Inquiry, president John Dramani Mahama and his NDC government can emulate this classic example in finding out the true cause of Professor Atta Mills death.

Again, the claims by the brother of Atta Mills, Mr. Cadman Mills that Atta Mills slipped, fell and bled to death, has generate one thousand more questions with few as what cause the slipping, where did he slip and fall, where were his aids, body guards and on and on of which his information could help the commission of inquiry to investigate the late president’s death.

As for the NDC deputy general secretary Koku Anyidohu’s denial that the late president was not poisoned to death only to be carried in his car booth to the hospital but was carried in an ambulance with a motor cade following it and what have you, tells everyone that the deputy general scribe of the NDC has some sensitive information that Ghanaians do not have and must be made to provide that information to Commission of Inquiry to be constituted by President Mahama.

When an ordinary person dies from circumstances unknown to his death, an autopsy or postmortem is conducted to establish the true cause of death. Even when a suspected criminal dies in a prison an inquest-judicial investigation is conducted to establish the circumstances that led to his death how much more of a then sitting president who was successfully elected by the people?

“It is a big shame for the incumbent president and his NDC government to have failed to conduct investigations into the cause of death of his predecessor Professor Atta Mills and all must bow our heads in shame”.

Just as late Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills had died shockingly whiles serving a term of office as president of Ghana, the same way some few heads of state shockingly died and their cause of death were established by a national Commission of Inquiry.

So what is preventing President John Dramani Mahama from constituting a National Commission of Inquiry to thoroughly investigate Professor Atta Mills death.

Yes several presidents have died shockingly to their citizens only for the circumstances that surrounded their death to be find out by a national commission of inquiry of which the late president of Malawi Mr. Bingu wa Mutharika was a critical example.

According to the African Review magazine of March 15,2013, Malawi President Joyce Banda received a report from a commission of Inquiry that was constituted to investigate circumstances that surrounded the death of her predecessor Bingu wa Mutharika.

Mr. Mutharika died on April 5, 2012 after suffering a cardiac arrest and the events surrounding his death and the succession stunned Malawians and the world.

The 105 page report summarized what took place during Mr. Mutharika’s illness and death and was the genesis of the activities that led to the arrest of 11 politicians on treason charges.

The eleven all former cabinet ministers and government officials including the late Mutharika’s younger brother, Peter were implicated in number of activities ranging from keeping secret the death of the president, to trying to circumvent the constitution to stop the then vice president Joyce Banda from ascending to power.

As to what caused the death of former president of Venezuela Hugo Chavez, the New York Times of December 10, 2012 states that, Mr. Hugo Chavez, a 58 fiery leftist who used Venezuela’s oil riches to steer the country towards his personalized vision of socialists revolution announced that on examination in Cuba found a malignant cancer cells that required immediate surgery” who later lost the fight against cancer.

What killed former North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il and the one time longest serving president of Africa Gnassingbe Eyadema are now common knowledge. Kim Jong-Il died of a suspected heart attack on December 17, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. while traveling by train to an area outside Pyongyang.

On February 5, 2005, Gnassingbe Eyadema died in a plane 250 kilometers south of Tunis, Tunisia “as he was being evacuated for emergency treatment abroad” according to a government statement where officials said that the cause of death was a heart attack.

About the circumstances that led to the death of the late former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, his successor Mahmoud Abbas gave a permission for exhumation of the remains after a Swizz institute reported finding elevated traces of a radioactive substance on the late leaders belongings.

The findings by the Switzerland’s Institute of Radioactive Radiation Physics were inconclusive but Columbian Broadcasting Systems [CBS] radio news reported that they reviewed speculation among Palestinians that Arafat was poisoned.

The legendary Palestinian leader died November 11, 2004 in a French Military Hospital a month after feeling violently ill at his government compound in West Bank town of Ramallah.

Therefore having established these facts about circumstances that led to the demise of some former heads of state, the mandate now lies with President John Dramani Mahama to constitute a national Commission of Inquiry to investigate the cause of late President Atta Mills death to put records right.

Failure to thoroughly investigate the cause of Atta Mills death will never bring about peace as it has indicated that it is never going to die down in the next coming years with the same question being asked every day, “WHAT KILLED ATTA MILLS”.
