Winneba, July 31, GNA - Workers of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, have donated sixty pieces bed-sheets valued 18,000 Ghana Cedis to the Municipal Government Hospital in Winneba.

Mr. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Central Regional Minister, who doubles as the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, made the presentation on behalf of the workers of the Assembly at the premises of the Hospital in Winneba.

The Minister said the donation was made possible by staff of the Assembly.

He said the gesture by the workers demonstrated that aside their official duties to implement government policies and programmes to better the lot of the citizenry, they also had the well-being of sick persons at heart.

The minister urged corporate bodies, individuals, philanthropists, and other benevolent organizations, to support health facilities with some of their resources to supplement government efforts.

Madam Margret Okelikal, DDNS, who received the items on behalf of the Ghana Heath Service, thanked the workers for the kind gesture, and promised that the items would be used for the intended purpose.

She said the number of people who patronized the services of the hospital had increased dramatically due to the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Madam Okelikal said the OPD needed an expansion to be able accommodate patients who visited the facility to feel comfortable.

She, therefore, appealed to the Assembly and philanthropists to come to their aid.
