Manly-Spain Urges Youth To Adopt Entrepreneurial Attitude

Dr Henry Ekow Manly-Spain, an entrepreneur, has advised Ghanaian youth to desist from only depending on the government for employment but rather adopt an entrepreneurial attitude to generate income.

He said with the right attitude young graduates could put their talents into effective use to earn a living rather than forming graduates unemployed groups.

“As young people you have so much potential and energy which you can channel into income generating ventures rather than allowing yourselves to be used to foment troubles during elections and other activities,” he advised.

Dr Manly-Spain gave the advice when he delivered a talk on the topic: “Creating your wealth, the untold story” during the Methodist Church’s 11^th Koforidua Diocesan Biennial Delegates Conference at Mpraeso.

The Conference was under the theme, “Upholding the Spirit of Self-giving as a witness to Christ and holistic spirituality.”

According to Dr Manly-Spain, the days when the youth looked up to the government for employment was long gone and that there was the need to strive for innovation and creativity in their fields of endeavours.

He asserted that the government was saddled with so many responsibilities and could therefore not create employment for every young person, hence the current unemployment rate in the country.

Dr Manly-Spain challenged the youth to set up their own businesses and employ others, adding, young people need to be focused if they want to be successful entrepreneurs.

Taking his turn to address the conference on the topic “Youth in Politics, Challenges and the Way forward, Captain (Rtd) Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey, former Member of Parliament for Berekum, urged the youth to build themselves up before venturing into the arena of politics.

He advised the youth to take active part in politics to help push forward the agenda of Christ, and urged to be disciplined and to as well resist gay and lesbian marriage.

The Conference elected six new executives to steer the affairs of the Koforidua Diocesan Methodist Youth Fellowship for the next three years.

The six member new executive has Douglas Ofori-Amanfo as Chairman, Jacob Asamoadu as Vice Chairman, Samuel Appah-Peniel as Secretary, Godfred Obeng Nyame as Assistant Secretary, Daniel Adjei as Financial Secretary and Comfort Maku as Treasurer.

Rev. Ekow Ainoo Jnr, the Diocesan Youth Organizer and Brother Kwabena Frempong Fening, the outgoing Diocesan Chairman, both charged the new officers to work harder to move the youth fellowship forward.
