Tehoda Case Takes Long Break

Hearing of the suit filed by DSP Gifty Mawunyegah Tehoda against the Ghana Police Service for unlawfully dismissing her over her alleged complicity in the cocaine-turned-sodium bicarbonate matter in police custody, has taken a long break.

The trial judge, Justice Kofi Essel Mensah, has adjourned the case to October 6, 2015 after Ephraim Vodoagu, counsel for Mrs. Tehoda, had told the court that they had finished effecting corrections on their record of proceedings.

The trial judge then ordered Mrs. Tehoda to finish filing her address by the end of September for the state attorney in the case, Cecil Adadevoh, to file his address immediately afterwards.

Meanwhile, the state attorney was not in court for the third time because of the strike action embarked upon by state attorneys nationwide.

The case was subsequently adjourned to the said date.

Mrs. Tehoda is seeking a declaration that her prosecution by the state over the alleged swapping of cocaine was malicious and wants to be compensated for her dismissal.

Mrs. Tehoda also wants a declaration that her detention in cells beyond 48 hours by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) was unlawful.
