Founder and leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addae Odike has stated that Ghana’s continuous borrowing from foreign countries may lure the country to legalise same sex marriage.

“Sooner than later, we will be asked to legalise same sex marriage when we go in for loans because those we borrow money from have legalised it. They have become back seat drivers; they want to dictate for us...,” he said.

Speaking on an Accra based radio station Thursday, Odike indicated that government has allowed foreign countries to direct and manage the affairs of the country indirectly since Ghana has not been able to make good use of its natural resources.

This, he said, is as result of government’s idleness.

“The world is in an economic race so when you lag behind, you cannot succeed. We have to develop our own country because no one is responsible for our development. What we have as a country, we need not to be borrowing money from anywhere and there is no need to go begging for help from any country”.

According to Odike, foreigners have taken over the country including employment opportunities and that has rendered majority of Ghanaians unemployed.

He said if care is not taken, Ghana will end up accepting what we have never thought of since they are against our religious principles.

The outspoken flag bearer of UPP stated that, it takes a visionary leader to help Ghana to deal with the ailing economy but not political parties with huge followers.
